Creating a next-generation semiconductor industry from Japan through the decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant
In 2011, the Great East Japan Earthquake triggered a nuclear accident.
This led to the launch of a national project for nuclear decommissioning and accelerated research into diamond semiconductors capable of withstanding extreme environments.
Ookuma Diamond Device was established to bring this technology into practical use. We plan to build the world’s first diamond semiconductor manufacturing facility in 2026.
Diamond semiconductors are expected to be applied not only in nuclear decommissioning, but also in cutting-edge fields such as space, defense, and communications. Building on the technologies developed through decommissioning, our mission is to create the next generation of the semiconductor industry.
